Olivia Rubie

Olivia Rubie was born in Göteborg, Sweden. After studying Psychology and Literature at the University of Göteborg, she moved to Sydney, Australia, where she pursued Photography at Tafe University, further cultivating her passion for storytelling and human interaction. She worked as a photographer during her studies and also participated in several photography contests, winning numerous awards, including “The Canon Pacific Award.”

Upon returning to Sweden, she continued her photography career through various projects. Her debut exhibition, “Darling, it hurts,” held at the Wetterling Gallery in Göteborg, showcased photos from her time with the creative community in Sydney and received widespread acclaim. Her subsequent exhibition, “A Girl Called Peter,” also in Göteborg in 2022, enjoyed considerable success.

Olivia’s work has graced the pages of renowned magazines, including the Financial Times, Vogue Scandinavia, and The Guardian. Her Instagram following has exceeded 50,000 followers.

In 2019, she provided all the photographs for the book “Wild Oysters” by Lotta Klemming, capturing images throughout all four seasons, both above and below the water. Her film documenting this project was featured on TV4 during the book’s release. Olivia earned the title of Photographer of the Year, surpassing 450 other photographers specializing in cookbooks.

Furthermore, Olivia Rubie has spearheaded an international creative workshop known as “the Journey,” now in its fourth year. It represents a collaboration among creatives who convene in various parts of the world to exchange ideas and participate in each other’s projects across different artistic domains. Olivia is frequently invited to partake in similar creative workshops worldwide, reflecting her deep interest in nurturing the creative potential of artists outside the often commercialized realm.

Presently, Olivia Rubie resides just outside Göteborg with her Australian husband and two sons.
